Returning to Fukushima

Amid the silence and overgrowth of Fukushima’s exclusion zone, a small amount of homes are resettled—returned to by those who chose to come back after the nuclear disaster. In a place marked by abandonment and radiation warning signs, their presence is quiet but unwavering.

This project documents the aftermath of Daiichi Nuclear Disaster and life among the remnants: gardens still tended, cows still grazing, and routine carved out of resilience. Through these images, I aim to share the story of one man’s return—not as an act of defiance, but of deep connection to place, memory, and identity.
